The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Zamfara state command has successfully completed the training of two hundred (200) personnel for VIP Protection.
The training program was the maiden edition conducted by all state commands of the federation, second only to the national headquarters.
A press release issued by the public relations officer of the command, ASCI Umar Muhammad stated that the state NSCDC Commandant, Sani Mustapha
highlighted the state Governor’s relentless effort and assistance to the state command which made the state command a pacesetter and role model of the Corps.
“Subsequent to your unwavering support and commitment to improve and standardize the welfare and capacity of the security operatives in the state, not limited to NSCDC, the Commandant General, Prof. Ahmed Abubakar Audi mni OFR sanctioned the approval of our request to commence the VIP Protection Training course in Zamfara state,” he maintained.
The statement further revealed that, the course was sequel to the Federal Executive Order 2025 by the President, Ahmed Bola Tinubu, GCFR, the protection of important personalities constituted an additional mandate which necessitated the birth of VIP Protection training scheme to adequately educate, orient and equip personnel of the Corps with essential skills, endurance, discipline and ethics of protecting VIPs.
“Consequently, this training is timely considering the impending electoral processes and the increased demands for VIP protection by the elites”.
Commandant Sani Mustapha stressed tha, “the completion of the two (2) weeks rigorous training programme was aimed to improve the ability of the personnel in the discharge of the added responsibility industriously and efficiently. The trained personnel will demonstrate some basic drills and tactics relevant to the protection of very important person(s),”.
“The Commandant General of the Corps, is determined to restructure and induce new ideas to ensure NSCDC delivers on its mandate efficiently”. CC Sani Mustapha concluded.
In their respective goodwill messages on the occasion, the Commissioner of Police, Nigeria Police Force; the State Director of Security Services, Department of State Services; and Controller of Correction, Nigeria Correctional Service, congratulated the trainees and state command for the remarkable feat of operational achievement.
The Executive Governor of Zamfara State, Dr. Dauda Lawal ably represented by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs, Alh. Yazid Attahiru emphasised security as the foundation of progress and that a secured Zamfara state is the primary objective of this administration.
“Posterity shall recall the Dauda led government for its efficacy to build, create opportunities and reinvigorate investment in Zamfara state through security and infrastructural development”.
The guest of honour at the occasion congratulated the trainees upon the successful completion of the VIP Protection course, the state command for its prompt initiative and the CG, Prof. AA Audi mni OFR for his accomplishments towards repositioning NSCDC.
