The leadership of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), led by the National President, Alhaji Musiliu Ayinde Akinsanya, joined members of the Union to celebrate the 2026 International Women’s Day at the National Headquarters in Abuja on March 9, 2026.

Also present at the event were the National Deputy President, Alhaji Issa Ore; the General Secretary, Comrade Kayode S. A. Aigbeyangi; the Deputy General Secretary, Comrade Frank Uchehara; Alhaja Mariam Usman Yasin; Heads of Departments of the National Union; as well as the FCT and Benue State chairmen.

The General Secretary appreciated the women for their unwavering efforts and support toward the progress and unity of the Union.
He commended their contributions and encouraged them to remain committed to the growth of the organization.
The Deputy President who speaks on behalf of the president, Alhaji Musiliu Ayinde Akinsanya, encouraging the women to continue playing their vital roles in strengthening the Union and supporting its leadership.

In her remarks, Alhaja Mariam Usman Yasin advised the women, emphasising that women remain the backbone of every home. She encouraged them to continue supporting the men in their lives both at home and in the workplace. She also made reference to the theme of the year, “Give to Gain.”
The Head of Department, Women Affairs, who served as the official host of the event at the National Headquarters, expressed appreciation to the leadership of the Union for their support and encouragement. She also urged women within the Union to remain united, supportive, and committed to the progress of the organization.
The celebration highlighted the importance of women within the Union and recognized their valuable role in supporting the growth and development of the National Union of Road Transport Workers.
