The Zamfara State Environmental Protection and Enforcement Agency (ZEPEA) has successfully conducted its third monthly environmental sanitation exercise, which took place on the first Saturday of the month.
According to a press statement issued by a Permanent Member of the agency, Sani. Mohammed Mayanchi, the feat made remarkable impact and visible improvements across Gusau metropolis. He added that
the exercise covered key environmental activities including drainage evacuation, street sweeping, enforcement operations to ensure compliance, and the evacuation of solid waste from communal dump sites to designated permanent dumping sites.
” This was achieved through the effective deployment of heavy-duty trucks and a pay- loader provided by the Executive Governor of Zamfara State, His Excellency, Dr. Dauda Lawal.”
” These resources reflected the Governor’s passion and strong commitment to making Zamfara State one of the cleanest and healthiest states in the nation, in line with his vision for public health and environmental sustainability.”
The exercise also featured the arrest, judgment, and imposition of fines on environmental defaulters and violators, in accordance with existing sanitation and environmental laws. Residents of the Gusau metropolitan area demonstrated commendable cooperation by complying with the sit-at-home directive and actively cleaning their premises and surrounding environments, contributing greatly to the overall success of the exercise.
This achievement was made possible under the able leadership of the Executive Chairman of ZEPEA, Hon. Abdullahi Zangina Yarin Gusau, with the full support and dedication of agency directors, officers, and staff. Special recognition goes to the Permanent Members of the Agency:
Hon. Sani Mohammed Mayanchi (PM1) – representing the Central Zone
Hon. Aliyu Garba Kaura (PM2) – representing the Northern Zone
Hon. Mukhtar Mainasara Yariman Anka – representing the Western Zone
The Agency also expresses its profound appreciation to the Honourable Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources, Hon. Kasimu Sani Kaura (Shantallin Kaura), for his strategic guidance, planning, and continuous support to ZEPEA.
ZEPEA sincerely thanks the people of Gusau for their cooperation, patience, and resilience, which ensured that the exercise was conducted smoothly, peacefully, and successfully.
The Agency remains committed to sustaining environmental cleanliness and enforcing compliance across Zamfara State for the health, safety, and well-being of all citizens.
