The commissioner of Information ,Alhaji Ibrahim Dosara who was ably represented by the special adviser on media and public enlightenment to Governor Bello Matawalle disclosed this in a press briefing on the preparation for the event.
He said the briefing was on the preparation of the 37 annual Quranic Recitation competition organised by the Center for Islamic Studies of the Usmanu Dan Fodio University tagged “ZAMFARA 2022/1444 AH”.
The commissioner stressed that Zamfara state government had concluded all necessary arrangements for the hosting of the annual event.
The Quranic Recitation Competition is an annual event organised by the Center for Islamic Studies of the Usmanu Dan Fodio University where
abled young men and Women who are versed in the memorisation and correct recitation of the Holy Quran are brought together from all the states of the federation and FCT to demonstrate their talents. At the end, winners of the various categories of the competition will be rewarded. The aim is to encourage others to strengthen the ability of preserving the religious scripture in human memory.
He said The Presidents and Commanders in Chief of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari and Mohammed Bazoum of Niger Republic will be the Special Guests of Honour at the occasion. The Chairman of the occasion will be the Borno State Executive Governor, Proffessor Babagana Umara Zullum. The Shehu of Borno, Alhaji Garbai Amin El-Kanemi will serve as the Royal father of the day while His Excellency the Executive Governor of Zamfara State, Dr Bello Mohammed remain the Chief
host.
The event will be officially flagged off on Friday, the 16th Of this month at the Trade Fair Complex, Eastern bye-pass.by 10am.
He further said the present administration of His Excellency, Bello Matawalle has done a lot in ensuring that our people live a clean way of life as enshrined in our Islamic code. One of the major achievements in this regard is the fierce fight against unscrupulous and wayward elements who chose to desecrate the Holy Quran, including dumping it in pit latrines for obviously, accultic purposes. This turn around earned the conferment of the title of “Khadimul Quran” on His Excellency, Dr Bello Mohammed (Matawallen Maradun, Shattiman Sakkwato).
