Citizens across Nigeria have urged to elect people of proven integrity as their leaders in the forthcoming 2023 general elections.
Former Deputy Governor of Zamfara state, Sheikh (Dr.) Ibrahim Muhammad Wakkala made the call during a retreat organized by Zamfara Security Initiatives Project (ZAMSIPRO), founded by some concerned citizens of the state, held at Taula Hotel, Gusau.
The former deputy governor expressed concern over the acts of some unpatriotic politicians in the sate, who despite the incessant killings of innocent citizens and destruction of property in communities, are just busy with their political activities.
According to him, abandoning the Shari’a legal system implementation was the genesis of all obstacles in the state , saying that Sharia must be revisited for the better .
In his remarks, a former House of Representatives member who represented Kaura Namoda and Birnin Magaji local government area and now the constituency’s aspirant under APC, Hon. Dr. Aminu Sani Jaji, explained that Zamfara Security Initiatives Project is set to tackle the security and political crises that were militating against the progress of the state.
On the forthcoming 2023 general election, especially the presidential election, Jaji said that the APC Muslim–Muslim ticket is the main point of consideration.
Earlier in his welcome address, the state Commissioner of Health, Alh. Abubakar M.C , disclosed that one of the objectives of creating the forum was to assist the state government in tackling security challenges.
In his brief remarks, the Emir of Anka and Chairman, Zamfara state Council of Chiefs, HRH Alh. Ahmad Attahru, observed that insecurity is characterized by injustice.
The Emir noted that traditional institutions still have vital roles to play in moulding the society and the nation at large
The occasion was attended by many dignatories, traditional rulers, Islamic scholars, politicians and host of others within and outside the state.
